Updated: Apr 13

Mitch's Philippine Loop Adventure Tour ✝️🚴🇵🇭

Bicycle Riding Day 1️⃣9️⃣

February 12, 2024

From: SM Masinag, Antipolo.

Destination: Sto Tomos, Batangas.

Distance traveled today: 89.51kms

Total KM Traveled: 1,966.51

Route:

SM Masinag, C6, Taguig, Alabang, Muntinlupa; San Pedro, Laguna; Calamba; Sto Tomas, Batangas. 🚴‍♂️

Notes:

I had late start at 0946AM on Monday. I did re-packing, cleaning, and welding aluminum repairs, since this trip will be nearly 40 days long before reaching Finish Line. 🏁

The route is very similar to "Laguna Loop" and traffic was intense nearly the whole day. I visited a "follower/fb friend" from Malayan, Batangas. We enjoyed fellowship/story telling in his office and they even made a "Welcome Streamer" for me! They ordered McD, we took photos, and I gave them over 20 stickers!

I had my first "fall" today hitting some "ruts and sand" while turning. All is okay. Just got dirty.

Near Sto Tomas, Batangas, the wind became strong. Hurricane-type winds but no rain. Five hours later, the wind is still howling outside and roof tins (yero) are shaking, but NO RAIN!? Weird. 🤔🤔

I hope to reach Naga in few days more. My next official checkpoint is all-the-way to Matnog, Sorsogon. 🚴🔥

Bicycle Riding Day 2️⃣0️⃣

February 13, 2024

From: Sto Tomos, Batangas.

Destination: Atimonan, Quezon.

Distance traveled today: 120.17kms

Total KM Traveled: 2,086.68

Route:

Sto Tomas, Batangas thru San Pablo, Tiaong, Candelaria, Lucena, Pagbilao, Zig Zag, Atimonan, Quezon.

Notes:

Today was pretty steady. I met a lot of teenagers near ZigZag. Gave away lots of stickers and two Bibles. I prayed for a blind lady in Candelaria. Zigzag provided lots of video and captured shots. Started to rain slightly and getting dark.

The highway from Sto Tomas to Zigzag has been the most accident prone and many hazards to watch out for.

My last 30 minutes to De Gracia Resort in Atimonan was all moderate rain. I bargained down from 1,000 to 500 for a room if I promised to not use the bed with fresh sheets, but sleep on bed with no mattress. She agreed. I swept the floor and cleaned CR before leaving.

I hope to reach Naga late tomorrow or the 15th.

My next official checkpoint is all-the-way to Matnog, Sorsogon. 🚴🔥

Bicycle Riding Day 2️⃣1️⃣

February 14, 2024 ❤️🌹

From: Atimonan, Quezon

Destination: Tagkawayan, Quezon

Distance traveled today: 104.49kms

Total KM Traveled: 2,191.17

Route:

Atimonan, Quezon thru Gumaca, Lopez, Calauag, to Tagkawayan, Quezon.

Notes:

Today was a strong day. Rained most the day, wet but not soaking. Worse highway on my trip thus far. The holes and cracks started before Lopez, Quezon and continued whole route. Gave away over 20 stickers.

Met some other student bikers today in Lopez. Talked to some truckers coming from Cebu. Had to go off the road today cause trucker was to close. The bumps, cracks and holes really pound the bike.

I asked for a miracle to find an open room tonight (because it's Valentines Day, busy busy everywhere). I got one! The first place I stopped to ask, I got it! So happy! So perfect! 💯🏆

I expect to reach Naga City tomorrow, the 15th.

My next official checkpoint is all-the-way to Matnog, Sorsogon by the 17th. 🚴🔥

Bicycle Riding Day 2️⃣2️⃣

February 15, 2024

From: Tagkawayan, Quezon

Destination: Naga City, Bicol

Distance traveled today: 121kms

Total KM Traveled: 2,312.17

Route:

Tagkawayan, Quezon thru Ragay, take right at Sipocot corner, Libmanan, Pamplona, Milaor, to Naga City, Camarines Sur, Bicol Region.

Notes:

I had a strong day today. If you see the map and elevation gains, it is A LOT but I did well. The highway is terrible with holes, cracks, broken cement. May God help this Province's engineers.

I had big tire blow out after Ragay somewhere. Good thing I travel with EXTRA foldable tire and plenty of EXTRA inner tubes. Now, I need to replace my backup for future. I have carried that foldable tire for 27,000kms over past four years! It finally rescued me today!

Strong ending racing into Naga, ate at friend's restaurant (As-ya on Magsaysay) and staying at Naga Mission House.

I expect to reach Daraga (Albay) tomorrow, the 16th. Six other bikers will join me!

My next official checkpoint is all-the-way to Matnog, Sorsogon by the 17th. 🚴🔥
